Magnaflow Muffler Only For Nbs (which One?)

Has anyone replaced the muffler only on a 5.3 NBS if so which part # and any drone issues in 4 mode?

Talked to a local shop that said he has done several for dealers and suggested the 24" Magnaflow muffler claims there is no issues with drone in V4 mode.

He cuts off the stock one and has to add a small section of pipe, $200 installed. I can add the tip of choice if I want. Should be a cheaper alternative to a cat back system.

I ordered a 12289 muffler getting it installed Monday next week I'll let you know how it sounds.

Nice tip there. The 24" Magnaflow is probably quieter than stock! Magnaflow is very quiet. I say get the 14" Magnaflow oval muffler.

I don't want it too loud just less restriction and more sound when I smack it down. The Magnaflow is a straight thru design so it can't be more quiet than stock.

yeah true. 14" or 18" i say, maybe the 18" would be good. Which one are you going for the 24"?

I already ordered the 24" thought length wise it's closer to stock but should flow a lot better. Since I didn't hear any feedback on here I went with the exhaust guys recommendation.

Just got back from the muffler shop had the 24" Magnaflow installed and I'm very happy with it so far. Nice throaty rumble you can hear it when accelerating quites down at crusing and sounds very healthy when you lay into it. No V4 drone at all. It's perfect for my taste an 18" would have been too loud. From what I can tell they cut off the old muffler and this one basically slid on, clamped at the back and welded on the front part in hind sight I could have done the job at home with a saw's all and my mig welder looks like an easy install for those mechanically inclined. I found this muffler for under $100 online. (Ebay) Just waiting for my Magnaflow tip that will be next.
