punmax Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I had my truck on 4 high today and when ever i slow down and turn, the truck seems to brake automatically for no reason. Tires don't slip at all when I turn but the d**n thing still brakes automatically. Whats up with that?
omegafiler Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Interesting. Mine did that awhile ago when I came out of an uneven driveway sorta fast and caused a bit of suspension movement. It kept braking over and over again - in a straight line. I just turned off stability control. The next time I restarted the vehicle, it worked fine. Hasn't done it since. I wonder if it's just a sensor that got confused or something...

I was going through a kind-of truck-inadequacy thing because I had not placed the Stability Control very high on my must-have list. Your posts have bumped up my self esteem to a point that I think I'll cancel my extra shrink visit.

ws6_guy Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Each day I wish I had gone with a Ford f150 harley davidson.. Same here thats one of my dream trucks, I want a black '02 with that Eaton S/C but right now, I need the 4wd
omegafiler Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I love the truck, I just don't care for stability control at all. I actually have to turn it off if I plan on quickly getting onto a street where there is a fairly big dip that will cause a lot of suspension movement. It'll kick in and try to slow things down because it thinks there is a "problem." And that's just no fun at all when you're sitting in the middle of a street with fast moving traffic. I learned my lesson. Perhaps you can blame the bouncy YD suspension or an overly sensitive SC, either way, it's annoying.
WilliamsVMAX Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 This is my first vehicle with Stability Control. I have to say I think its an option worth getting. On dirt roads where there is loose gravel and the truck starts fish tailing, or on ice the same thing the truck stops itself from loosing control and corrects itself. For someone who puts 70000K on a truck in a year, safety means everything, and Stability Control is one of those options I think is worth the money. Also I was reading a review and they highly recommended SC on GM's truck versus Toyota's. But to each there own.
punmax Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 Why does it go all weird and starts braking when I try to park. It only happens on 4wd mode. And I was talking about the 06-07 Harley F150. rather have that than a silverado any day now.

But you may be sorry you didn't wait when the new ones come out with the new engines. Although with a good tune, the 5.4's will get-up and go too.
punmax Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 Going to post my truck for sale and if I do sell it then I'll grab the Harley

It's not normal. If its not, its not the stability control program and its just because your in 4wd and turning which any 4wd will do. Some will grab when turned, some will groan, some act like they are slowing at low speeds. My experience with Stability control is that it's a little annoying at lower speeds (especially when you want to have some fun), but it's already kept my rig from flipping in a recent high speed crash I had with my NBS...well worth the price.
shedberg Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Each day I wish I had gone with a Ford f150 harley davidson.. So do we.
Triki_Dick Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I jumped into my truck and blazed down a dirt path slinging and snatching, rocks everywhere. Thought, this truck handles really well. Then turned stabletrack off and did the same. I lost control of the back and did a 180! These trucks are LIGHT!!!!!! Handles nothing like a F150, I think F150's are much heavier! Whats the specs? I wish I could turn stabletrack off holding button for 3 seconds and not the 10 seconds. 10's tooooooo long. 1 sec traction control off, 2 more secs stabletrack off. And away we go. I printed a sticker up and stuck it on my traction control button and it reads, 'Fun Button' People laugh when they see it, but it's true, it's my fun button, push it and it's instant fun. Still love my truck!
