just scored a set of TSX projectors on ebay.....unsure if I'm gonna put them in my 04 CBR600RR or if I'm gonna put them in my truck. I would think it would be easier to put them in the bike. Anyone have any experience doing a retrofit on Sierra headlights with projectors??

Hey, I'm very very new to this forum.

I joined this forum to ask a few HID questions. I actually own a performance modified 03 honda accord. My dad, however owns a 2001 Yukon XL. He saw the HID retrofit that I just did on my car and he showed an interest in HIDs.

I'm not a GM knowledge base, but I do work for Acura so I know my way around certain things. Here's what I'd like to know:

I know that the Denali had projectors, but did they also have HIDs?

Since the denali is a luxury upgrade in the yukon line, I would suspect that the headlights would swap. I know all about Acura and honda swaps, I'm just a GMC noob and need confirmation. It seems from what I've browsed that they will swap but I would still like confirmation.

If the 01 Denali did not come with HIDs, what kits have people been running in their own HID setups?

What bulbs do the denali low beams require?

Do you need any special harness to run an HID system in a stock 01 Yukon? I only ask this because I actually picked up a set of Ford(I think?) ballasts for my own HID retrofit in the accord and the ballast plugged directly into my stock 9006 socket with no extra harness necessary.

Thanks a bunch for the info!

you can grab up most any of the el-cheapo sets off of ebay .. and seperate the lens from the body and use the housing to retrofit a quality HID unit in there .. then re seal the lens in place ...

thats about the best (and in some cases only) way to get a quality HID ... a lot of them are just projectors .. but not HID's

The GMC Denali line of vehicles came with the projector headlights, but were not HIDs. The low beams and high beams were 9005 halogen bulbs. Some folks have replaced the low beam bulb with the HID kits from ebay with good results, but due to the shape of the projector lens, you don't get the crisp 'z' line like from a true HID.

With the inexpensive HID kits on ebay, you should be able to plug-n-play them to the existing wiring harness. Some folks prefer to use relays and run the HID ballasts straight from the battery. Personal choice.

I think the 01 Yukons and Denalis have the same headlight shape so getting some OEMs or knock-offs from ebay is an option. Like Devil said - get the cheapos and retrofit true HIDs into them. You won't regret it.

    • I understand that. The price is what it is, though. The price is what oil costs today, where our choices have led us, where supply is, and where demand is, in the market that is. Speculation is for futures, what we think the price will be, but with incomplete information at the time the price is forecast. I know you know this, but you appear to be intent on making a secondary point here about what you think the market could or should be, if only other choices.   In 1975 it became illegal to export US Crude. I'm conflicted on what the best answer is. Free markets allow export in pursuit of profit. But there is also a lot to gain by producing and consuming our own oil here. How do you reconcile it?
    • That sir is a choice. And even if it were not for all the reasons stated, this disruption has zero to do with the reality of the actual logistics and everything to do with the greed of SPECULATION. Spot price is irrelevant to reality.
    • What I think you're saying is there is supply here at home, and in Venezuela, and we could ease pricing if only it were favorable to do so.   Well, yes?   But that's not the current market. Supply isn't what could someday exist, if only, it's what producers are willing to produce and sell at a certain price point.   The national price of single family homes would come way down if we'd just slap together a few million homes this summer.   RAM and GPUs would get a lot cheaper if we just set up some factories to produce a bunch more and stopped using it to build out AI data centers.
