Hey guys,

I am looking to upgrade my Sierra (non-bose) sound system. I would like to upgrade the head unit first as I have some paint flaking issues as well as some lights burnt out. I would like to simply ugrade to another "newer" head unit...I assume other years will work (once I have the delearship set it up for my VIN)? I am on a budget and really just want something on par or slightly better then the Bose system. Any ideas? Like I said the head unit will be first...is Ebay the best place to go

Ebay would be a good place to go, make sure that the seller has very good feedback and read the listing completely. you can always install the 6 disc cd changer or the nav unit, neither will equivicate the bose system because that has the external amplifier to boost the sound. you may want to buy a head unit and a small aftermarket amp.

What is your budget? Have you tried www.crutchfield.com yet? You can find some really great aftermarket headunits.

My budget is probably about $500 but that will depend on what I buy and when. This will probably be a one piece at a time deal. Head unit first and then upgrading speakers. Looking on Crutchfield it appears there are no direct drop in replacement speakers. Any recomendations?

Your speakers are just a basic setup. 6.5" up front and 4X6" in the rear. Every company out there makes those sizes. You don't have to replace the factory tweeter.

I have an 08 Sierra NBS without Bose. Is it possible to just plug and play with the NAV unit. Truck has Onstar and XM if that helps.
