Carpet Removal

Has anyone here removed the carpet from their truck? Is it a difficult job? What's underneath: is it the same rubberized flooring that comes standard on these trucks, or not? Can it be successfully reinstalled later before trade-in or resale?

Rubber Flooring is not underneath the carpet, just bare metal.

It's not like you'd expect GM or any other auto maker to put in more cost genertaing material when they really don't need it.
