on friday to my surprise i walked out of work and saw an early christmas present for me. my fender on my 2007 gmt 900 silvy apparently looked like it was hit by a plow. it wasnt terrible but it will need to replaced. can anyone help me find the part number for a fender?

Man, that sucks. Your dealer parts department can get that part# for you as well. Or the body shop that's going to fix it... unless you're going to do that yourself.

If your truck was hit by a plow, it shouldn't be that hard to track down who did it. The markings on the truck and in the snow immediately around the vehicle should be a pretty big clue. A digital camera is pretty helpful in gathering evidence before you move the vehicle. If it's in a parking lot, it would be pretty easy to find out who has the contract. If it was on a street, the company contracted to do the road maintenance would know who was working that road during that day. They are responsible for any damage.

 

Any dealer can look up your part with the vin - even over the phone. Any bodyshop can look up your fender by model application. Any of the dozen or so GM parts on-line sites can identify your vender by VIN #.

thanks, yea i thought about that, but it was in boston on a main roadway, im sure many plows went by and i was parket right b4 the stop light. any plow could have skidded into me i would think.

I'm confused. YOU DO HAVE INSURANCE, don't you? Let your insurance company deal with it. That's what you pay them to do. If they want to find out who did it, fine. They have a lot more resorces to do this.

my deductible is $500 and im sure i can get it dont for cheaper. fender $225 GM PARTS DIRECT and seeing if my buddy can paint it. i will install.

I think what they are getting at is Boston has municipal snow plows on these routes and only municipal trucks. If you had taken photos of the plowed snow and obvious dent from the plow you could easily contact the city to pay for the damage. If they did not want to pay a small claims suit against the city for under $1,000 is almost a given in your favor. You need no attorney and for that amount they would not even bother to show up with city paid council. I would still sue them in small claims. The other way to handle it is let your insurance company fight the city to pay it. You do not pay your insurance company just to pay your claims. You pay them to chase issues like this.

i appreciate everyone's advice. its tough, a friend of mine works as a claim adjuster (not for my agent) and he said if he was given the case there would have to be good proof it was a plow, and that it was done by the agency in charge of plowing that area.

 

who know. i have to call my agent monday morning to see what the can do.

I wouldnt have even moved it till I have photos and a police report.

I did that once and the car looked like a minor fender bender, well it turned out to have major frame damage and since I moved it and never reported it cost me $.

now I doubt your truck being a GM has frame damage
