Thinking About Taking The New Truck In..

So I've had the truck for a little bit now and the little quirky things I thought would start to go away havent and have become preatty annoying. I know its a truck and all of what that entails but from what I hear most of you guys have better experiences than mine. I'm gonna list what my problems are and if there preatty normal I'm gonna pass, but if not I think I'm gonna take it in.

 

1. Cold start squeeking. Any cold start, when I'm idling the engine it squeeks, sounds like a belt or a pulley, after I get in and drive it I don't really notice it.

2. Exhaust popping noise. I think I read about this one, is there a TSB for it?

3. Windows vibrating. Very noticable vibration noise that I'm preatty sure is coming from the window.

4. Choppy Idle. After the engine is warm, in gear or park with no load the engine idle surges and drops, not all the time but most of the time. (Not AC compresser operation)

5. Low RPM vibration. Any time I hit the gas just enough to cause a downshift in low RPM's I feel what feels like to me is a driveline vibration.

Yup..Those are all valid complaints.

Almost all of those are covered in a TSB which will state that it's "normal" for all such occurances......don't get me started.

This bulletin is being revised to add the 2008 model year and include additional models. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-06-05-001 (Section 06 -- Engine/Propulsion System).

 

Condition:

Some customers may comment on a popping/snapping noise from underneath the vehicle at idle or immediately after the vehicle is shut off. Some popping/snapping noise from the exhaust system during cool down is a normal condition.

 

The noise may be intermittent depending on the outside temperature and or temperature of the exhaust system at the time of testing.

 

Cause:

As the exhaust system warms and cools, the muffler and the muffler heat shield expand and contract at different rates. Some popping/snapping noise from the exhaust system during cool down is a normal condition.

 

The straps currently used to hold the exhaust shield in place may not be crimped tight enough to stop the muffler heat shield from moving.

 

Correction:

DO NOT REPLACE THE EXHAUST SYSTEM COMPONENTS.

 

Install three straps, P/N 10391259, so that the strap screw head will be located on top of the muffler.

Tighten

tighten the strap screw to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

 

Cut off the excess strap material and bend the strap over the strap screw head.

I agree, especially with my aftermarket exhaust when in 4 cyl. vibrations go throughout the whole truck.

The power steering pulley comes out of alignment and and has to be fixed/replaced on the squeaking. Mine was in the shop a week ago for this. #5 is either the AFM system or the rear drive train.

Regardless you need to take your vehicle in so your complaints are recorded. Enough complaints will get problems resolved.

Thanks for the comment guys, I guess I'm going to have to call and schedule a time to bring in the rig. Hopefully they can get those things fixed, I have mixed feelings about dealership techs but we shall see. I have preatty high standards for my vehicles, so far the chev has come up a little short, I hope the dealership makes things right.

 

Oh and someone asked how many miles were on it, theres 3k on it but I've noticed most of these things since the day I drove it home.

#2 is the heat shield popping. Mine had it and I thghtend the clamps holding the shield on it and it went away. There is a TSB on it so if you take it in for the other issues they should fix it.

Yes take it in...I have issues #1 and #4 and I want to take mine in for those too.

 

Please let us know what they say is causing this.

I think that's certainly enough to warrant a service apppointment. That's an expensive vehicle you've got there Tony; you should be happy with it!
