Dual Exhaust Cab Noise

Recommended Posts

I own a 2008 silverado crew cab and had dual magnaflow cat-back exhaust installed and now the cab noise is way to loud. What can I do?

Get a bigger muffler, go to a single exhaust, add a resonator, resonated tip, etc. May also want to consider another exhaust, such as Corsa. No drone.

There is always back to stock, as a last option.

Yeah....... I think I'd listen to post 2 or 3, waaaaay before I listened to #4. That seems a little excessive, just to get rid of in-cabin noise. However, the Denalis are very nice! :dunno:

I've been curious about this myself for a while now. Does anyone have any opinion on sound dampening matting, such as Dynamat? I was wondering if I applied some to the floor and rear part of the cab if it would really make any worthwhile difference :dunno: .

I've wondered about this, myself. When I had my Acura, I heard about some stuff called B-Quiet. It seemed like I was getting excessive noise from the front and rear of the car, primarily from around the wheel wells, but straight through the wheel wells into the cabin of the car. I debated installling some of the B-Quiet or comparable material, but I never did. When I hear people talking about muffler drone, I've wondered if some sound-deadening material would help at all... Worst-case, it seems like it wouldn't hurt the situation.

i prolly have the worst cab noise of anybody here. and idk its not that bad until you get on the highway. i cant hear my phone ring, or talk to people, or hear the radio. but i do more city driving and its not bad. sometimes my radio is my exhaust.

If your up for getting your interior removed for a day pull the seats & carpet out and add that sound deadening stuff

I think a combination of resonator tips and Dynamat (or an equivalent product) on the back wall of the cab and floor areas would help a lot. Dynamat works wonders for removing road noise in cars. You can make a KIA quiet as a Lexus with enough of the stuff... might have to turbo the engine in the KIA though after adding all of that weight.

Dynomat is really that heavy? I thought it would have been slightly heavier than styrofoam.

yeah in most cases that stuff adds 30 - 60 pounds or more

should work, keeps bass in vehicles for competitions, so it should keep the exhaust drone out.

Be a tad pricey, but i'd say a few bucks cheaper than changing your exhaust.

Well... I was exaggerating a bit but you get the point. It is pretty heavy by the box.
