Removal Of Headlights 2007 Nbs Trucks

I run on a fire dept, and decided to install some hide-away LED lights in my turn signal assemblys. FYI, these headlights are a PIA to remove!!

I should have taken some pictures, but I think I can describe it well enough for anyone else with questions.

You have to remove the plastic radiator cover, along with the grill. There are 4 screws to remove on the top horizontial side of the grill. There are 4 of the push/prong/clips that hold the back of the grill to the supports. I found it easier to use a pair of plyer to squeeze the back side of the clip, then pull on the grill. Its a pain, as when you work from right to left, it never fails that you'll be on the last clip, and the first clip will re-attach.

You will then have two screws, one on the top horizontial, and one on the top vertical, to remove each headlight. You then will need to pull gentley forward, and on a slight angle toward the centerline of the truck. There are two pins on the outside back edge of the housings, that connect into the back side of the sheet metal. Once you get the light to slide out of the pin holes, you have to push down on it, kind of squeezing the top edge of the bumper, and then pull straight out. If you do not squeeze down, the top clips of the headlight housing, will get caught on that thin piece of sheet metal above the lights, and the clips will crack.

Good luck if anyone is needing to do this. Also, this is the only was I can see to get to the turn signal bulbs!!!

Thanks for the write up Mike. I posted a less detailed "how-to" about removing the headlight assemblies in a thread about changing headlight bulbs, but yours is much better! I didn't find it necessary to remove the grill on my truck ('07 Sierra Denali), but perhaps it's slightly different on the Silverados. Shame on GM for making certain menial tasks such as changing bulbs a PITA like this.
