Ultrasonic Backup Sensors

I have a 2008 Silverado with the backup sensors. I live in the Northeast where we just got hit with a cold snap. I needed to hose off some salt for the truck and after doing so the backup sensor kept beeping and then shut itself down. I noticed a thing coating of ice on them and wiped them off. Didn't help. 2 days latter the sun hit the area and they are working fine. The question is do they tend to get false readings in the winter with frozen moisture?

Yes. My truck's system does the same. Snow also puts the kabosh to the system.
