Wait4me Tunes?

First off let me start off by saying that this is my first post and I have already learned a lot from this site from reading a lot of your posts; thanks for that.

My first of I'm sure several questions to you guys is about a tune from this company for my truck ('07 NBS Silverado 5.3). I have read some really good stuff about personal experience from others and have talked briefly with the owner. My questions are as follows:

1. I am looking for something to get me better gas mileage and an increase in performance. This is my daily driver and I also use it to tow a 23' Center Console boat; weighs around 6000 lbs. What tune should I get?

2. Should I get a higher octance fuel tune or get it programmed for just using 87?

3. Which should I put the money into first, this or an AEM Brute Force CAI?

Go with the tune....it's the best upgrade for the money.

I order the excalibur2 from wait4me...allows me to have 3 tunes plus be able to restore the pcm to stock. I have an econmy tune for gas mileage, a tow tune for when I tow my 7000lb trailer, and a performance tune. Most times, I use the performance tune....I'm getting better mpg over the stock anyways.

i have a single 89 tune from wait4me, and although I have nothing to comapre it to , it woke the new 07 up nice. The tune was worth the money.

Jesse's tunes now automatically adjust to whatever octane you want to run so there's no need to specify a certain octane. I found running 93 yielded the best mileage and the best seat of the pants performance. A tune is definitely the way to go.

Thanks for the replies. So I think that this will be the first place that I put money towards mods/performance add ons. With the excalibur tune, first off what kind of price are we looking at and is this the hand held where you can change it back to stock if need be whenever you need to do it? What kind of mpg increases should I realistically expect if I were to go economy/towing/performance with the 3 tune deal?

Yeah, his tunes are all dual octane. I'd also recommend going with the SCT Handheld so you can have 3 different tunes, including a Towing tune. I've got Economy, Performance, and Max Tune on my handheld. But the only one I actually use is Performance. All set for dual octane as well. The Max Tune can also be run on regular, but premium is definately recommended. Personally, I've always run premium in my truck, tune or not.

A tune will give you much better results than an intake. Tune first, intake later. Otherwise, just give him a call, tell him what you want, and he'll ship it to you.

Great help guys, thanks alot! I think that I will defiantely go with the economy, towing, performance tune and let Jesse use his professional guidance to do the rest. It all sounds great, can't wait until I get the money together for it. You know how that wife thing goes, just bought a new truck so have to tread kind of lightly for a little while.

About what is this going to run and how hard is it for someone like me with no knowledge of this type of thing to install? Also, what kind of gas mileage increase can I realistically expect?

The SCT Xcalibrator2 goes $369 shipped and all you have to do is plug the hand held into the plug in under your steering wheel.

And this is what he will ask for when you order.

1. VIN Number

2. Any Mods

3. Tire Size

4. Rear End Gear Ratios (if changed from stock)

5. What you would like to see out of the tune.

The wait 4me tunes work great. For how cheap they are (Send your PCM & TCM) you get the most bang for your buck. I have sent my modules to Jesse twice for further custimizing my tune. I now would like the option of having the handheld with the 3 tunes already loaded on it.

Thanks again guys. Great info on the reply cambo. I did the math and if I can legitimately get 3 mpg's better then it will pay for itself relatively quickly.

Hey anytime. I contacted him about getting the SCT, but I don't really have the cash to do that as a college student. As soon as I am free I will do the upgrade. Good luck with the tune and let us know how you like it!

I was told that the first time you upload the tune, it will take like a minute for the computer and hand held to communicate, but after that it only takes like 10 seconds for you to switch the tunes. I would like to know if you could change the tunes while the truck is cranked up, like at a red light or something.
