Trans. Park Neutral Switch

03hd auto-39000 miles I have owned this truck for 14 days and have the cluster changed through recall. 1 week later Park Neutral switch melts down it is mounted on side of trans. and tells the cluster what gear you are in. Long story short $617.09 later it is running. Has anyone went through this machanic told me it was very popular,and they have done nothing to new parts to keep this from happening again. thanks

There is a service bulletin for the reverse neutral switch. The black ones are the old ones and the new ones are brown. You shouldn't have to pay for it, if it was an older one.

If this is a common problem on an unmodified vehicle, you may be able to get GM to the " one time goodwill free repair" Its easier to get this done before the repair. ITS REALLY HARD TO GET MONEY BACK FROM ANYONE.

Happened to my truck at about 75000 mi. Repalced it myself part was about $150 (I think).

 

Easy to change.
