Hardwiring Sirius

Can I hardwire Sirius without buying the power kit? An old discussion thread I found said to tap into the RDO1 fuse on the driver side electrical box. My 05 Silverado does not have the RDO1 fuse and all the other fuses didnt give power to the unit. Do I have to run a line into the engine fuse box where the "Radio" fuse is??? What is the best/easy way to hardwire my Sirius???

i installed the SIR-GM1 sirius tuner into my truck, hooks up like the factory XM tuner, and the tuner needed power all the time, so i tapped in to the power outlets power wire in the dash, it worked great.

Installed my Starmate 4 by tapping into the power wire to the headunit. Bought a power outlet socket from Walmart. Tapped power and ground wire plugged in power supply for the plug and play secured it with electrical tape so it wouldn't come unplugged. tucked it away inside the dash and ran the wire out of the dash and to the radio. Have had this setup for two different sirius radios no problems.
