I've seen around 3 key fobs of nbs Silvs and they all have the unlock button faded away, but the rest are fine. Why's this? It can't be because we use the unlock button more than the lock one, it's the same, unlock it once, lock it twice.

Here's mine lol.

personally I lock mine when I get out, from the button on the door. Always have with all my GMs, therefore the unlock button would be worn, but I have never had one "wear off' like you mentioned

are you serious pun? I'm sure everyone who uses their fob has somekind of paint rubbed off. ill explain why it happens. the botton is made from rubber wich flexes when u press it. the paint is not made of rubber so when u press it, it does not flex..thus causeing the paint to wear off. and if ur like me I press the botton to unlock like 10 times. I like seeing the lights blink lol. and if u look at the fob closely the unlock botton is a bubble, and the lock botton is a dent.. that might have something to do with it.

Had 80000kms on my 03 Ford and the fob had no paint rubbed off of it. Now don't give me bad comments that I said that lol, I'm just saying. I don't think GM did this on purpose. Bad design probably. And your right about the dent and bubble.

I dident mean to come off like that but I'm guessing it has to do with the bubble.. I just started playing with mine right now... and its seems without realizing your actually pressing the botton with your finger nail sometimes.... I guess doing that enough will cause the paint to fall off. oh and yea, I looked at urs and ur paint is missing exactly whare mine is... at the top of the bubble .

The lock and unlock buttons are different, allowing the user to differentiate between them in the dark. The unlock button is noticeably raised in the center, while the lock button features a depression in the center. It makes sense that the unlock button would wear faster than the lock button. I've seen many older key fobs in which the rubber is wore right off the raised button, and the metal "bump" is sticking through through the middle.

Hey Pun,

Do you actually sit around in your free time trying to find something to complain about on your truck? I thought the "white stuff on the plastic" thread was bad, but this one takes the top award for lamest complaint threads ever.

No offense, buy it is getting a little bit old.

Hahahahah I got a solution, maybe I should post this in the Tech Wiki

Take your whiteout and paint it back on.

Hahaha, piece of s**t GM products, hahahahahaha

This occurs due to the fact the bump makes the paint more exposed to the lining of your pockets. Walking around with your keys in your pocket produces a lot of friction between the material and the raised bump on the button where the paint is. I click the lock and unlock buttons pretty d**n close to the same number of times. In my opinion, this is the only logical reason behind the problem. It's the same paint and the same rubber on both so it has to be something else. I just live with it as lining my pockets with grease just doesn't seem practical.

And I thought it was just me.

I have this problem to, also, I have to change my oil, and my tire tread is wearing down, and my truck bed is scrathed, and I keep running out of wind sheild washer fluid, is this all because I use my truck? I just don't understand.

Just kidding punmax, I couldn't help being a smartass!

It's just you.

Nobody else would care about that. Your other questions were somewhat tolerable, but this is just ridiculous. My key fob has no paint on it, but does it matter? Nope, it's just something you deal with.

I have a complaint too. You know those little rubber tits that stick out of the tires from the molding process? Well, my truck only has 9500 miles on it and those things are already wore off!!! What a POS!!!
