Surface Rust Under The Hood

Recommended Posts

Posted

I just picked-up the truck (2007 Yukon Denali) in Oct. and it currently has <6,000 miles. I looked under the hood other day to check the oil level and was shocked to see the condition of both the exhaust manifolds and what look like to be the drive-shaft going to the front wheels (along with some other parts). They had a large amount of surface rust on it. :smoker: [Picture attached].

Is this normal for GM trucks? My other vehicle is almost 7 years old and has 143,000 miles on it looks a heck of a lot cleaner and newer under the hood. Is there a way I (or the dealer) can get this off and prevent it from coming back?

Thanks for any help!

Go get a Rattlecan of Rust-O-Leum and paint those exhaust manifolds. Take her for a drive and report back how they look (and smell) then. :smoker:

very common. It wont break, just wont be pretty, good excuse to get stainless steel longtube headers though lol

I'll agree with the others here. Normal operation. Cast iron especially.
