L33 Option

So, I was just going over the information I recieved with my used vehicle purchase and found the original sticker. I had thought I had the basic 5.3 295 hourse engine, and found out I had the 5.3 HO motor. Is there anything more special with this particular engine? Can I get better performance out of tunes and aftermarket parts?

Sorry for the newbieish question. GM trucks are new to me, for I am a ford convert.

Thanks,

The 5.3L H.O has 310hp, you could get better performance with a tune, cold air intake and exhaust.

Okay. Thanks. I wasn't sure if the HO engine responds better. What did they change to make this engine "HO"?

I had the H.O engine in my 2006 Silverado and it responded good, it had a lot of balls. It took out the normal 5.3L and smoked 4.8 Silverados, it took out all Fords except the Ford Lightning. I thinks it's an aluminum block, not sure though.

The L33 has a higher compression ratio 9.9:1 vs 9.5:1 and a higher lift cam to get the extra ponies.
