07 Gmc 1 Month Old And Wipers Are Junk

I bought a brand new 2007 GMC NBS Sierra crew cab Z71 and I am very disappointed in the junk wiper blades. I can not believe that GM thought they needed to reinvent wiper blades. What was wrong with the old arms? I guess they need to try to get out of debt somehow. I called the dealer and they want 29 bucks each. Is there an after market blade available yet? My truck is only a month old and the passenger side blade doesn't even touch the windshield.

Yea, they do make replacements but the lock mechanism on them is a bit different than the OEM style. I picked some up for my wife's 2007 Tahoe from O'reilly auto parts. I think they were Bosch (Possibly Anco) but they do carry them.

My truck is nearly 9 mo old and the wipers are still the best I have ever used. Maybe your blades were old stock when your truck was built? I park inside at night, I'm sure that plays a role in blade life.

I am not sure why they redesigned the rubber blades themselves, but I am very happy they redesigned the arms. Some genius at GM figured out how to get the wiper arms to come out more than a couple of inches and actually stay so I can actually clean my windshield at gas stations now with a squeege without swearing...

But up here in hill, mountain, and snow country - the ice sticks to them. Defroster on high. They haven't yet figured out how to keep the ice from sticking to blades. Yes, there are aftermarket 'snow blades'. Not yet for me.

you should try the new rain-x blades and then let us all hear what you think of them. They are 17 a piece on the rain-x sit and you get a free bottle of rain-x. Next time I need blades I am gonna try them.

Gentlemen,

 

I discovered that when you wash your truck, if you run a soapy, wet cloth along the blades of the wipers, they really work better and last much longer. The blades get crudded up with bugs, dirt and old rubber. If you clean the blades regularly, you will be surprised how much better they work.

You can get new blades under factory warranty...I did that on my old '06 Sierra...

When was your '07 built? September '06? They could be at least a year old. My '07 was built in 11/06 and the wipers are just fine. In fact, I've never had a wiper blade perform as well.

 

BTW, has anyone noticed that when you run the windshield washer on the GMT900, that the wiper runs a few swipes, pauses and then just when a few drops are blown up from the wiper into the field of vision, it makes one last "tidy-up" swipe. I may be out of touch since my old truck is a '95, but I think that is cool as hell.

Look into Bosch icon's. Best blade on the market! Also for blades that seem to be not working great as new, take some rubbing alcohol to them on a towel and clean em off.... oyu will be amazed at all the black s**t that comes off!

 

Rain x makes a great product for windows to keep them rain free.... but IMO they should stick with that product and ditch the blades line... ive heasrd from more people that they are great for the first month or so and then are terrible!

The Bosch Icon's rock...I have them on our Hummer and they work great. Almost a year now and they are still soft and make a clean sweep. I also clean them with soapy water and then wipe them off. That helps a lot.

Trico Neoforms were the only replacement I could find with the new clip. I've had them on for the past three months or so and they've held up well against all the ice and snow here.

The ones on my SS were junk the day I drove it home from the dealer lot...I replaced them that week.

The truck was probably sitting for a while. You should take a rag with rubbing alcohol and wipe the wipers down. They will be as good as new.
