These d**n Air Pressure Sensors Again

I finally got my truck by the dealer, and they reset my monitors for me. Now every day the light on my dash comes on, either saying check right front and right back, or the next day says check left front and left back. It shows them fluctuating back and forth 1 psi. I guess it is the temperature causing it. Does any one else have this problem. These things just pisses me off.

yes i get that all the time in winter. only way to make it better is to go all nitrogen as the temp wont affect it nearly as much. its not the monitors fault at all theyre workin fine and accurately reporting the psi. just plain ol mother nature

Resetting the TPMS will not fix this. You need to recalibrate your nominal PSI requirement. Reseting the sensors get's the system to recognize new sensors/position, but the truck has no way of knowing what pressure "should" be in your tires. if you change to different tires that require a higher pressure, your truck needs to know that. i.e. My stock tires were meant to run at 35 PSI nominally, so my range was 25-45. If my pressure dropped below 25, my indicator on the dash lit up and my DIC informed me which tire was low. But when I put my new tires on, they require 45 PSI nominal, so whenever my tires would go above 45 PSI, my DIC would flash "check RR tire pressure" and cycle through each tire. I simply went to the Dealer and they used a Tech-II scanner to change my Nominal PSI to 45, now the range is 35-55 psi. I haven't had a problem since, they charged me $65 to do this. This calibration is actually stored in the RDL Module (Remote Door Lock Module), believe it or not.

thanks, that makes since, seems every thing you do you have to reprogram a module. 65.00 here, 65.00 there, can you even add a cig lighter without flashing a computer? This hightech stuff is cool, but a pain in the a$$.

On my new truck, every sensor gives a different number, even though right before I drove it, I put 30 lbs. in every tire. They range from 26-30. Guess they have a little margin of error. Is this everyone else's experience too? (sorry if this is a hijack...)

The tire pressure sensors in the truck match (within 1 psi) what my cheap old digital tire pressure guage from says.

It's good to know that that nominal pressure can be changed. Thanks for passing that info along.

Don't believe the BS about nitrogen not being effecting by cold. I have that SHTUFF in and my pressure monitors are always going off when it gets cold. You drive out on the highway and get some heat in the tires, the monitors don't read low tires. NITROGEN IS A MONEY MAKING SCHEME!! imo

You can get the monitors reset to a different pressure level. I haven't had a chance, but I want to see if they can drop the low level way down to 25 psi. That way when it does get cold and drop a pound or two I won't get the error messages.

The Tech that did mine said he cannot set the range, he can only set the nominal and the range is +/- 10 PSI.

At what pressure do you guys run your tires? I don't have to deal with harsh winters in Texas, so I usually keep my tires at 34 PSI. I'd like to air them up a bit more, but I'm not too sure if this will affect anything.

Unless your hauling or towing that is probably ok. The only thing that it will effect is the harshness of expansion joints in the road. It will also give you better gas mileage, so its a trade off.

I have mine at 45 and need them softer. Just a bit harsh. I recently chipped tooth :D
