Transmission Protectant?

I don't remember what it was called but I saw this stuff while I was checking out the new Wal-Mart earlier this week and it was for automatic transmissions and it is supposed to help keep the transmission running better and longer. The can said that it was for most/all auto transmissions and the instructions said to just pour it in where the transmission fluid dipstick is. Anybody have any opinions on this? Should I try it?

I was also wondering about STP Fuel Injector and Carbeurator cleaner. I used some in my last tank of gas and it seemed like it made my engine run a little smoother, with a definate decrease in vibration. I know I should probably just Seafoam it, but that stuff is surprisingly hard to find around here. So, what are the opinions on this stuff?

I personally would not put anything in my transmission except for high quality transmission fluid. As for fuel additives, most, if not all the additives you add to a tank of gas are not going to significantly clean anything except your wallet. They are simply too weak. The stronger ones would destroy the fuel pump. That is why seafoam is so effective, it is added directly to the intake manifold. G.M sells a top end cleaner that also works very well. There are injector cleaners the plumb right into the fuel line if you think your injectors are dirty, dealers offer this service.

Dont add any crap like that to your transmission you will be replacing it sooner than later if you do. BG makes a good additave for the gas tank its called 44K not sure what it runs for a can used to be 19.95.

Don't use additives. You may want to consider changing your ATF to the latest fluid from General Motors. The new DEXRON VI replaces the old spec DEXRON III in all GM automatic transmissions. The new fluid is far superior to the old fluid. As far as fuel additives to clean the fuel system and combustion chambers, use only Top Tier Gas and you shouldn't have a problem.
