I was surfing the web, and came across this "kit" to improve gas mileage.

It consists of a hydrogen fuel cell and some other crap. The company is claiming a minimum of a 50% increase in fuel mileage. Here is the site

www.preignitioncc.com/wjessee/ check it out, post if they are full of crap, or if they are on to something.

The ONLY thing improved by buying this load of crap is the seller's bank balance. Not saying you believe it but I say keep dreaming or buy a Honda if you want good mileage.

It appears plausible to me. Gas motor efficiency under part throttle conditions is around 15%. Doubling mpg would bring that to only 30%.

I do not know any of the details, but I am giving this one the benefit of the doubt for the time being. If a patent has been awarded, there would be some credibility, though not any guarantee that this isn't a scam.

The "Yunick" type companies tend to disappear, and not necessarily because they are frauds, but because big auto has an agenda.

I am impressed with the trouble they have gone to, to describe the legality of messing with "Clean Air Act" equipment, namely the cat. It has been well understood for many years, that over 2/3rd of the energy of your gasoline is liberated as non-work-producing heat...wasted into the atmosphere. A 50% increase should be easy to accomplish, but the only question in my mind, is how they do it without replacing the entire charge intake, and fuel injection system. That is what raises questions for me. $1000 doesn't touch these needs.

I have witnessed some small gas engines with a form of catalytic converter on the intake system. The results were astonishing - the average increase hours/gal was a minimum of 50%. The tests I saw were on small electric generators running a bank of lights. They put measured amounts of fuel in to each generator and the modified one ran over twice as long. The people doing the development worked with the inventor of the exhaust cat. They inheirited the design idea from the widow of the inventor when he died. Simply put his notes said that we were working on the wrong end of the engine. I do not know the details of how this works - I just know it works. On another note they were able to burn almost any fuel type in the engine - karosene, gasoline, ethenol - in fact they poured in some karosene that had been sitting around for a year and it ran the engine just as well as fresh gas. They even think it could run diesel.

However this gadget has all the elements of the smoke and mirror stuff from years ago - magnets, added hydrogen etc. I don't buy it.

I believe you are refering to Smokey Yunick. His work is highly admired by many.
