Now This Is Actually Offroading

Seems that a lot of people have a misconception as to what "offroading" is, or at least I have a different opinion from most people. :D

First clip - offroading competition (not sure whether it is in Alaska or Russia, pretty sure Alaska though).

Most of the vehicles shown are Russian offroad teams.

Second Clip - Russian Lagdo Trophy 4x4 championship. When I was over there a few years ago I went out to see this. Pretty frickin awesome.

Anyone know if there is anything like this in the lower 48 (or "southern" Canada)? Or, a better question might be is there any place where someone could legally navigate terrain like what is shown in these videos? Although I haven't looked real hard, the most I can find in Michigan is old logging roads and power line right of ways (in the U.P.). I'm slowly building up a jeep and am soon going to need a place to test out equipment / designs.

Of course, the Heavy Chevy is going to be the tow vehicle :shakehead:

Yeah, I've seen footage of that "ripsaw" before. That may possibly be the greatest thing ever constructed, the thing is virtually unstopable!

I was not aware though that they had given it autonomous capability. Pretty sweet. Wish that I had enough time / money to undertake something like that.

Those two brothers sure are having fun with the different version of the RipSaw.

Manned

Remote controlled

GPS guided

Plus all of the civilian and military applications.

What a great hobby to have.
