Both. In oil, claims to cut varnish inside engine. In gas it lubes fuel pump and inhibits varnish buildup. :shakehead: They do make a great air tool oil.

I have put it in the gas tank before with good results, smoother quieter idling. I would not put it in the oil. MMO contains a good deal of solvents and they will cut the lubricating ability of your oil.

I have been putting Marvel Mystery Oil in my gas tank once a month for 10 years. Never any problems. Never a fuel pump issue. Original fuel pump. Supposedly lubricates fuel pump and upper cylinders. I have no idea about the claims. It just works for me.

Never put in oil though.

I agree with Unit731... I've used it in every kind of engine from my mower to my boats for years. I love the stuff... if I could only figure out what it does?....

I've used it in everything that I own and the best use of it is my class A camper which sports a 454. I run it in the gas and the oil and i have had awesome results with it. I haven't used it it my new truck yet but will soon.

I run a quart of MMO in every oil change, the rest gets filled with Mobil 1 5W30, and cycles through a K&N filter. I absolutely love the stuff.

In the gas, I run Red Line Synthetic Fuel System Cleaner... the best stuff I've ever found for lubing up the fuel pump and cleaning out the crud from the injectors.

I think it is basically wintergreen oil. Detergent qualities. A half cup of transmission fluid does the same thing. I would use it in an older engine to free up sticky lifters. No need to use it in a new engine.
