Removing Factory Stereo From 08 Sierra

I swore I saw multiple threads in these forums saying how to remove the plastic around the factory stereo and the stereo itself form an 08 Sierra, but I can't find the threads anymore using the search. Can someone please point me to the appropriate threads? If they don't exist, does anyone know of another place that shows how?

I don't the thread but all you have to do is from the top of the dash use a platic tool of some sort, ( I use plastic modeling clay tools) and slip it in at the top right corner above the air vent and pry out gently. It is only held in place by those wierd push clips. Just work your way across the top and down the side by the glove box. that's it, there are 6 screws 9/32 I believe 4 for the radio and 2 for hvac. Hope this helps , I'm in the middle of adding components in all for doors and an amp but it's raining and had to stop. Good luck

+1 on the post above. i just gently pulled, by hand, on upper right corner, then lower right and it comes of that way. its pretty scary at first but it comes right off from there. there are some screws that hole the radio in place and thats it.

Do I have to remove the lower part of the dash to get the stereo suffound off., It looks like the lower part overlaps the stereo surround.

No, the piece around the stereo is a piece by itself. you can remove that piece without taking anything else off. its really easy.
