Backup Camera

I have a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500HD with top of the line DVD/Nav system which is the same setup as in a Denali or Escalade. Both SUV's come standard with a backup camera which shows the image when the vehicle is placed in reverse. Why isn't this offered for trucks? I would really like to be able to see my hitch when backing up to a trailer, so I had an aftermarket camera installed, but was told that I needed to go to the dealer and have the software upgraded for my radio/nav (VCI number) so that it would recognize the rear camera. I have been to the dealer several times, and they tell me that the software can't be upgraded. Has anyone else done this? Has anyone done this through a Coastal Tech module that is also referred to as a lockpick? Surely there has to be a way to have the rear camera display on my nav screen.

Thanks for the advice. This upgrade doesn't appear to need any reprogramming at a dealership. I may try it.
