A/c Question

Hello all,

 

I have a 2000 Blazer with some A/C issues. The compressor stopped working, so I bought a can of freon. Checked the pressure while the car was idling and air on max. It was low (8 psi on low side) so I added freon to about 40 psi. Now, the compressor will come on, spin for about 2 seconds, go off for about 10 seconds, spin for 2 sec, etc.... Anyone have any ideas?

If it's not cold where you are then you are still low on refrigerant. It probably will not require an entire additional can.

Whats the high side? You could be getting too much pressure causing the clutch to disengage.

Thanks for the quick response. Where can I get a gauge to fit the high side inlet? My little gauge will not fit the high side inlet.

If adding an another can dosent help you could take it to a shop. most repair shops have systems that charge your A/c systems.

ok well i happen to be an a/c tech and have a 96 jimmy that had a a/c problem. The system requires 1lb 14 ozs of freon. if the system does not have enough pressure the ac clutch will engage then disengage. once the pressure is correct the copressor with have longer run cycles.
