A regular clay bar won't remove swirl marks. You'll need a clay bar with a mild abrasive in it to cut down the clear and polish them out. I've seen them at some online sites but if your going to get one in a store i'd go with Meguiars.

I agree. Clay bars are amazing though. If you use one and then wax, I bet the swirls are gone. Meguiars is my choice too.

Maybe a polish, but no wax is going to remove swirls. Cover them maybe...But not remove them.

That's my experience anyway.

Technically that is right. If the swirls are really light wax will do away with them but a good buffing might be in order if they are severe.

Bar far the best clay bar and polishes I have ever used are made by Griot's. Check their stuff out at http://www.griotsgarage.com/ you wont be dissappointed

They have a nice website. Has anybody else used their stuff?

I have. Very high quality products that yeild excellent results. I've used there quick detailer called speed shine which is excellent, there carnuba wax stick, wheel cleaner, glass cleaner, under carriage spray, clay bar, leather cream and spray, leather interior scent, and there creme de le creme of vinyl and rubber dressing which is $30.00 a bottle but makes any surface look brand new. I also bought my orbital from them too and it works great

As stated, buffing is the real alternative for swirl removal. Clay baring is great for the paint though. Washing your truck alone doesn't necessarily get it clean. Every season a good clay bar job will make it like new, removes all debris and makes it clear, shiny, & smooth. Then polish and wax it up.

I prefer Meguiars, and Zaino products.

Agreed. Some people clay every six months (or sooner); I think that's a bit excessive. Once a year is plenty. For those of us in the Northeast, a good claying and polishing once a year at the beginning of spring will make maintaining your vehicle much easier for the remainder of the year. No one clay bar is really superior to any other. I use Clay Magic bars, but the Meguiars clay bars that are available everywhere work just as well.

How often you clay is based entirely upon where you live. Every six months in a rough climate isn't really a bad idea.

Also, a wax won't touch swirls at all. The reason why the swirls "vanish" when you wax is because the wax fills them and makes them appear to be gone. As soon as the wax wears off the swirls will be right back where they were. The only way to remove swirls is to remove part of your finish. The only way to do this is to polish. You'll wanna pick up something with abrassives in it. The Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish doesn't have any, so you'll wanna go with Meguiar's #80 or #83.
