How Do You Remove The Spare Tire?

Well, if its on a 2002, probably with a big f'n hammer!!

If the Yukon is the same as the trucks, which I would assume it to be, you need to use the tire drop tool, which is probably in the back trunk/cab. There should be a small plastic door on the back bumper, near your plate. You open that, insert the tool, and spin the tool once it seats in the little receiver. That should lower the tire beneath the truck. But, like I mentioned, I have seen many people never drop the tire until they need it, which has been long enough to form a rust bond to the tire and frame!!

I'm not being a smartass, but have you checked your owner's manual?

+1....it's amazing the information that can be found in that little book

I do have to admit that even with checking my owner's manual, it took me a minute to figure out how to access the spare tire.

No kidding.

Why don't one of you people that likes to chime in with "RTFM" go get YOUR manual and tell him how, as a shole BUNCH of us buy almost exclusively used...And may not have a manual to read.

This forum isn't about telling people to go elsewhere for information, it's about talking trucks and helping each other out when we can.

I do know that once you have everything ready, on my friends 2001 we had to flex the piece that drops the tire up a little too have it catch the gear. Almost as if you where trying to lift the truck with the handle, obviously not hard, but it was a finesse move between lifting the handle and pushing in and turning it at the same time. Now, I'm not sure if that was just his truck, but he had never dropped it before, no rust though. Good luck Jake.

Yes. Wasn't in there. For the Pathfinder at least. I don't have a manual for the Yukon.

You can get a digital version of your owners manual from www.mygmlink.com.
