Good Deal?

Well i took my cd play out of my old truck.... (Kenwood CD Deck)

 

and i bought the dash install kit and the connector/wire kit.....

 

i called Circut City/ Best Buy and both have the same $50 bucks to install it

 

is that a good deal?

well it is not too hard, just gotta have a simple probe, small knowledge of what wire colors mean what (can google it) and how to splice wires together. beginners usually run anywhere from 3-7 hours from start to finish, whereas pros can have it done within 30 minutes. If you dont want to mess with it, then I would say that this is a reasonable price, SO LONG as they DONT screw it up....

your newer truck is probably easier to work with as it has a harness that might actually plug into the factory harness and all you have to do is know which wires go for left, right, front and rear from the deck and splice those into the harness that you bought.....your call though

i almost just wanna have somebody else to it cause they know what there doing.... and could get it done fast....

i wanna put new speakers in too but i can do that myself those arent very hard to do...

then I would say go for it....you can always do the speakers at your own accord

I have never trusted Best Buy/Circuit City, have a shop here called Custom Sounds, they seem to know and understand more about what they are doing than the 'chain' stores.....let us know if you have any problems

well a couple of my friends have the almost exact same truck except a chevy and have had no probs at circut city

You just need to get the confidents that you can do the installation yourself. Read up on it do your homework and you wont believe how easy it is! That install kit for your truck alone is going to be close to $50 bucks on its own including the ANT, adaptor and wiring harness.

 

I did it for myself on my first car and it was a 91 Cavalier. I think it took me like an hour. I put one in all the vehicles that I have owned and now it taked me like 15-20 minutes after doing all the pre-work like assembling the mounting kit and sodering all the wires to the plug n play harness

I myself would pay someone to do it. I don't have the patience. Besides that, with 6 pcs of steel in my back, it's kind of hard to get all scrunched up under the dash board.

Circuit City caused $12,119 worth of damage to VTECnical's 2007 Honda Civic while trying to install a Pioneer AVIC Z2 navigation system. Honda later declared VTECnical's car a fire hazard and told him it was unsafe to drive. Despite destroying the car's heater ducts, stock wiring harness, and dashboard, Circuit City has refunded only $3,190, and insists that VTECnical speak exclusively to their third-party insurer. I would trust a shop that makes a business off radio sales and installs before I would trust a box store.

There should be a plug-n-play adapter for that '97.

 

And yeah, it'll usually run about $50.
