does anyone have 9005 HIDs in a NBS silverado? Do they get to hot and melt the housing?

I've got 9006k HIDs in my '07 Sierra. I've had them about 3 months now with a few long night trips with continuous headlamp use. No problems whatsoever here!

 

p.s. If you install these in your low beams, be sure to pull your DRL fust within your underhood power block.

are you talking for the fogs?? The low lamp bulb is H11 The hid's actually run cooler than the normal bulbs. They will be ok. If you do the 9005 mod for the fogs it can melt the lens. That would be a standard bulb not a hid bulb. Just my <2cents>

I've had 9005 Silverstar bulbs in my GMC fogs since the truck was 1-month old. Much, much use later, fog housings are still in perfect shape and I still firmly believe its one of the most practical upgrades I've completed thusfar.

 

NBS Yukon (round) foglight housings are smaller in diameter, and I know of at least one member who tried the 9005 upgrade and deformed his housings. Don't know how it would be on the square Silverado housings. Nice big round Sierra fog housings are good to go with the 9005 bulbs.

the 9005 is the High beam in a NBS. I have h11 HIDs in my low beams on my NBS and they will not melt the plastic. HIDs burn at a lower temp than halogens.
