Leveling Kit

installing a tuff country leveling kit tommorow on a 2008 gmc simple kit aluminnum spacer is bolted on top of strut,my question is this kit wants u to install spacers on struts then reinstall struts by putting drivers side on pass side and vise versa, this is so the bolt holes will alighn back up, says to do front end alighnement asap how long before you need to do this, no shop is open tommorow and cant get off work till thurs. anybody run in to this how long do i have???

One of these days I plan on getting an alignment for my truck... been about 4,000 miles since it was 'leveled'.

I just did a leveling kit on my '08 Silverado last week. Mine was similar to the TC as it used spacers on top of the struts.

I think the reason they want to swap sides is so the angle for the lower mount matches the control arm. The lower strut mounts ride in rubber and will re align themselves once everything is bolted together. My instructions, and the Skyjacker instructions said nothing of swapping sides.

For re assembly, I attached the lower mounts first, then while holding the strut in alignment with the top mounts raised the lower control arm until I could install the nuts.

 

I drove my truck for a week (100 miles) before getting an alignment just to make sure everything was ok and I wouldn't have to tear back into it. Wear on the tires in that amount of miles isn't going to hurt anything.
