2004 1500 Hd

According to my research, it does appear that GM started to offer the 1500HD back in 2001 with the Vortec 6000 V8, which at the time was rated for 300 hp @ 5200 rpms and 360 ft·lb @ 4000 rpm with the 4L80E. Hope this helps

yep they did, the 4th character looks like it is always G (for the GVWR)

that spells out that it was capable of carrying more than just the standard 1500, here are some examples of VINs found:

2001: 1GCGK13UX1F150287

2002: 1GCGC13U92F243705

2003: 1GCGK13U33F205472

2004: (He is right there was no HD in 2004 for the 1500 :D , that is probably when the 1500 crew cabs with the 5'8" started to come out, taking away from the 1500HD frame supply....pure speculation though)

2005: 1GCGC13U65F848270

2006: 1GCGK13U86F260553

2007: 1GCGK13U27F199024

Does any body remember if GM offered a 1500 heavy duty in 2004? I just can't remember.

Thanks for your help,

Don

They did, but they didn't -- it wasn't called a "1500HD", it was just called the "2500" (no "HD"). For some silly reason GM renamed the 1500HD to 2500 in 2004 and 2005. So it is the same truck but looked like this:

2001 to 2003 --> 1500HD

2004 to 2005 --> 2500

2006 to 2007 --> 1500HD

They were all Crew Cab trucks offered on the 2500 Light Duty frame (different from the 2500HD, 3500, 3500HD, and 3500 Chassis-cab).

Confused yet?!?!?

The 2500 was a 2004 model year designation only. There was a 1500HD in 2005.
