Another Lift Question For The Pro's

I'm in Iraq right now but I'm thinking about lifting my truck when I come home for R&R in July. And of course I'm trying to do it on the cheap. Its a 02 4X4 long bed work truck package. I have a fiberglass cap on the back and she sits level with all the weight. I've read the posts on cranking the torsion bolts to get 2in lift. What should I do about the rear? A co-worker told me about a shackle lift. I was thinking of 3in of lift in the back to have a 1in rake, since I tow an enclosed snowmobile trailer. Will this work, or do they make 3in blocks?

 

I'm getting new tires after the lift. I was thinking 285 75 16's or maybe 235 85 16's for the tall skinny look.

 

Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.

Yes you can crank each bar about 5-6 full turns and that will give you about 2" and for the back yes they do make a 3" block kit but you will have to get longer shocks. You cant put a shackel lift on these trucks cause the rear shackels are reversed to what your co-worker is thinking, shackels point up to the bed of the truck so if you get longer shackels you will be lowering the rear. 285s would look great on the truck.

First off i just want to say thanks for serving and just get back home safe. as for your lift , this is what i did on my 05 avalanche did the ready lift level kit then installed bilstein 5100 shocks all around why , the front shocks will be at max and what will happen the shocks will go bad after awhile had that happen on my 02 avalanche. reason i did rear was because the rear seemed to look alittle lower than front and added the 3/4 spacers for better handling in rear. after all that 33s , 298/70r17 or 305/70r17 can be used. here a web site to check out more info on keys. http://www.avowners.com/forum.idc?show=for...ID=870&PN=1
