I realy like the Sierra with the 6.2 with the 6 Speed but the 2009 Dodge looks alot better than before in my opinion. I also prefer the GMC body over the Chevy.

I read someplace (maybe Truck Trend?) that Dodge was going to focus more on driveability and comfort in their next version of full-size trucks. So while coil springs might not be the best for large loads, you'll get a much better ride in most driving conditions. They're reshifting their focus to try and differentiate themselves from the standard truck features. Slightly lower load and towing capacity, but much better ride and handling.

I don't really get the whole "it needs to ride like a caddy" thing. It's a truck, for christ sake. Most people get a truck so you can move heavy shit around! If I wanted something that rode like a luxury sedan, I'd buy, well, a luxury sedan. Next they'll be going a la ridgeline and give it IRS. As if IFS isn't enough of a pain in the ass...

5.7 Hemi 380 HP 5 Speed Auto Trany or 6 Speed Manual Trany Not bad.

Rear coil springs - Very bad.

How is it very bad. They increased payload and towing, while increasing big time the ride of the truck. Yeah the Ram 1500 might be behind some of the other 1500 in payload, but Dodge is banking on people getting a HD if they want to tow more.

I agree totaly But dodge said that the rear coil springs just produced less of a bouncy ride than evreyone else but if that takes away from the its a work truck aspect then why would you be looking for a truck other than a SUV or more a sport car ride . I want more HP and performance while maintaining the work truck power and capability. I guess its going to come down to the reviews of owners of the ram once the truck is on the market.

But Dodge realizes that 90% of people don't fill their trucks to max payload. So what if they lower the payload by 2-300 lbs. I think it's a pretty smart move.

I like it...would I buy one? Not as long as GM keeps this smile on my face. But I think the new 09 Dodge Ram has passed the F150 to take the #2 spot on my preference list.

I say "Kudos" to Dodge if it's as nice in person as it sounds and looks in pics.

I would like to see GM, Ford and Dodge succeed.

American Trucks FTW!!!

Why are people so scared for the big three to try someting diffrent??? Kudos to Dodge for stepping out and trying something new. It is becoming a very difficult market for the truck all around, and any change might help. Also, who is to say that springs in the rear are "bad"? Have we even seen them offered on a truck in recent history? Lets wait and see what the truck is like when it comes out, instead of freaking out that things may have changed a bit.

I agree. Nobody said a truck has to ride like a Caddy, but if you can get a better ride with coils, and still have a competitve payload limit, why not? Obviously lots of people are interested as I see threads all the time here about different shocks for better ride and handling. I'm interested in a better ride. I wish GM would do this for their half-tons. If you need a huge carrying capability, go with the 3/4 ton.

I'll be honest, I hate this stuff. One of the reasons I wanted a truck for so long is because I wanted my truck to ride like a truck. I didn't want the whole smooth comfy ride. I may not be the norm, but I hate how people are hopping on the "drive a truck to be cool" bandwagon. If I want a rougher ride than you, why should I have to get a 3/4 ton? Why can't those car ride people just upgrade to the Denali?
