Trap Speed

Hey guys i had an unfortanite event, my preditor had gotten stolen out of my truck along with some other valubles inside. Now that im getting my insurance company to help out with some of this i have the option of trying a differnt rout. THis is my problem though, the new preditor is a SLP version, havent gotten it yet but its what may be the best thing for my mods right now. The SLp version can do exactly what the regular preditor can do except they put a block on the part where you can adjust the speed limiter due to driveshaft problems with our trucks. My question is as of right now this truck will do all up to 120 if nessasary and i have had it up to like 115 before no problems,..besides wind drag under the truck..lol but if i cut that back to the standard 98mph will i have a problem at the track or do i not realy need that limmiter raised untill i was doing 12's or something?

Why do you want another predator instead of a custom tune? I wouldn't waste my money on another predator.

Ok well instead of being lazy and just paying some guy to create a custom tune and mail it to me, id rather be able to adjust things the way i want since i tend to change my mind alot this works, You probley are one of the people that ordered a diablo at one time and found out its too hard and sent it back. Spare me the got to have the custom tune BS diablo can also create tunes that work the same way your pcm tune do. Before bashing a tune maybe you aught to do some reaserch before being ignorant or give your comment back to the little girl you got it from..

Do you even read this site? predators do not even scratch the surface of tuning. And no, I never ordered one to start. For once I couldn't afford a diablo, and instead I went the inexpensive way and had a custom tune that gave me more performance for my money.

For just a bit more money than most hand helds you could buy yourself a license for HPTuners and create your own tunes.

Go over to performancetrucks.net and ask around who uses those things. 90% of them tune themselves or pay someone else to create a custom tune.

Yeah man, for a few extra bucks you could get EFI live or HP Tuners and be in tuning heaven. There's hundreds of variables to tune, fueling, timing, VE tables, transmission tables..the transmission tables are sick, torque converter lockup gear, and MPH, shift pressures, shift RPM points...there's books on how to learn custom tuning, I bet you'd really like it. Live data logging, see every aspect of how your engine is running. You could have a killer N/A tune, then load the killer N20 tune when needed. Truly get rid of all torque management, abuse mode, etc. It's probably confusing at first but after a few months it's probably simple.

forget about which tune is better for now, I run a 15.5 @ 89 MPH, so you are right, the limiter is not going to effect your 1/4 times on that truck.

Listen guys i have been reading this forum for a while now and have seen that the best tuner seems to change depending on which way the wind is blowing. Im not saying that diablo is the best tune out there, i belive in handhelds it verymay be but if you doing some extensive engine work like Sam has or others on here that put some serious time into there truck sure. I was before i got into the Diablo i was looking into EFI live did alot of reaserch and decided...."thats one bad ass program" I had talked to the guy at wait4me and honestly he didnt sell if to me, I want a awsome tune, who wants a bad tune but i want something i dont have to call geek squad everytime i get into my truck. I sell alot of these handheld tunners everyday so im comforable with the product but after i found out that i could have a handheld that will accept 5 differnt custom tunes wich are uploaded from a dyno and tweeked i figured thats great. I could switch instantly from one to the next.

 

All of this being said i talked to SLP and this unit is kinda expensive for a handheld , also given i have already experianced one of these, but the differance is this one was tuned in SLP shop with their dyno and alot of tweeking. Only CMR dealers can do this with the diablos, you cant do it your self. So since SLP has a kit called power packs that include Headers,CAI,Exaust..that fits what i have in my truck right now minus the nitrous, it keeps me from starting from scrach and building and tweeking another Diablo.

 

 

So anyway i figued out with the g-tech that i wont even break the 100mph mark. at the quarter but i do shift into 4th at the very end before the trap, so i got to do some trany tweeking now to make 3rd extend out

i know 3rd can easily go past 90mph and be no where close to 5k RPMs. when i ran my truck i left the shifter in 3 and only crossed the line at 81 and it was maybe at 3k?

Yeah, I shift into 3rd at WOT about 88-89mph. That's with 3.73's and rev limit at 5700/5800.
