Help! 2008 Silverado Carpet

Hello,

Im new to the forum. I need help. I just bought an '08 Silverado. I found about a 4''

slit in the carpet. Its on the driverside, just rear of the floormat before the seat. The dealerships claim it suppose to be there for wiring. It just dont look right. I'd figure a slit would be under the seat. Please, if you have any info or if you can run and check your trucks to see if its there!!

I have the same thing on my silverado, but haven't checked the avalanche yet. havent had to sweep it out yet...

I just noticed this last week on my 08 Silverado 1500 crew cab that I bought back in July. Local interior shop told me this is for the electrical wiring used on the driver's power seat if so equipped from the factory. My seats are manual. There is a technical bulletin/recall out on this slit in the carpet released in Feb 08 by Alldata.
