What type of milage does the 6.0l get HWY /CITY

5.7l vortec HWY /CITY

5.7l TBI HWY/CITY

This is why I'm interested. I am looking into a propane injected engine;and would like to convert the most fuel effiecient of the 3 engines found in a 3/4 ton truck. I think it would be the 5.7l vortec over the 5.7 Tbi but how much more fuel efficient would this engine be ? Converting to duel fuel the cost is $3000 for 5.7 TBI and $5300 for 5.7 or 6.0l vortec (sequential fuel injection). I think the old TBI milage won't be to far off the 5.7 vortec and the conversion cost is quite less. Any ideas !

If the propane kit you are getting, is it just changing the fuel system, then I would say you are waisting your time and money. If you are going to do it do it right or leave it alone. GM made propane powered engines and I am sure they still do. If I was you I would get a hold of a GM performance book and see if they can give you the changes to do. I made a few in years past for people, It involved different pistons to up the compression ratio to 14 to 1, a different cam, and head work to put in valve seats and stellite exhaust valves. PLAY SAFE!

I read that the 8.1L can be run on gas/natural gas or propane the internals are made for it,, anybody else hear about that?

That's what schwan's does. They bought the company that did the conversions. I used to be a schwan's guy and we had a fleet of topkicks with LPEFI 8.1L engines.

They had a ton of power.
