#!#%$! I'm Sick Of This Neighborhood!

During a usual week, there is at least one break in/ vandalism every other night. Unfortunately, the cops won't patrol this neighborhood because no one speeds so they can't make any money. My truck was hit again about 2 weeks ago (I've been busy). This time they stuck a screwdriver between the door handle and the door and popped the lock. Luckily, the alarm went off as soon as the door was opened so nothing was stolen. But now there is a hole on the door to let every thief know that my truck is wide open. It could be worse- my neighbor's truck was completely emptied out, including his 2-week old GPS unit and his back window was smashed in. Waking up 3 hours early is not the way to start off your graduation day. I'm sick of this, everything has been done to my truck minus it being completely stolen- egged, painted, keyed, etc. Anyway, here are some pics of the door (don't mind the key scratch-that was a previous vandalism).

If anyone has any cheap and easy ways to fix the door, let me know.

You'd get shot in my neighborhood for stealing someone's property. I'm usually the only one who closes his garage door at night.

Maybe you should start speeding through your neighborhood! Seriously though, that really does suck. Perhaps you could look into some inexpensive surveillance cameras.

Sorry about what's happening to you, Taylor. The last apartment complex I was living in had a problem with break-ins. Apartments, garages, cars, you name it... After a few months of that, some people got together and started a Neighborhood Watch program. It didn't end the break-ins, but the number of break-ins did seem to go down a lot...

If enough people in your neighborhood actually care about the neighborhood, the people, and what's going on, maybe it's time to put together a neighborhood watch and do what the cops aren't doing.

I'm not saying go around shooting people.. But, something needs to be done. Otherwise, the thieves are going to become more and more emboldened and they'll step up their game.. and people will start getting hurt (or worse). If the cops won't or can't do anything about it, maybe supplementing the police force with some eyes on the neighborhood will help.

If the crooks think they are being watched, they are likely to go somewhere else to do their dirty deeds...

...and if nobody cares... I'd suggest trying to find another neighborhood to live in...

Try taking off the door handle, take pliers/vise grips, to the bent edge, tap with a small hammer, and try to form it back. The paint may crack and flake on you, but it's worth a try. The metal on these trucks are thin. As for some preventive measures, get a camera, that overlooks, your vehicles at night. Do a search for wisecomm oc-960. This camera has color and audio, 100 ft. cord, and connects to a VCR inputs. Get a 8 Hr. tape, put it on slp/ep mode play, and record at 9 pm. every night. Look your vehicles over good, every morning. At least, you will have the "punks face" on tape, and may know who it is! Also search Clover oc-960 $42., this is the same camera as the Wisecomm oc-960. If you live in the country, you can put up "deer motion sensors" and be alerted to movement outside. On the door handles, I installed "crew cab rear door handles" on my front doors, and did away with the keyholes. I also bought the autoguard hood latch protector at http://www.trucksecurity.com The hood latch is cheaper at http://www.autoguard.us for $39.95. Also, I have an aftermarket alarm, with ignition kill and a bright LED on the dash, in plain view, of both doors. Also, have a outdoor light sensor, over the camera, with 75 watt flood lights, pointed at your cars, so the camera will see better at night. It is up to us, to take care, of detouring theft, as much as possible, so I hope this will help you and others out, to protect your trucks.

I'd move. Waiting for them at night, catching them, beating their ass, and tossing them on the side of the road would probably make things worse. Someone pulled this shit on me I'd go ballistic. :withstupid:

I dont think that I would beat them but I would rob them of any cash, or credit cards... Than I would tie them to a light pole at the entrance of the developement with his/her pants down bent over. Than I would hang a huge sign that said neighborhood meeting tonight here at light pole. I am the one respnsible for the neighborhood vandalism and I would like to apologize despite my current condition...

Caught with their pants down. I like it. I'd pay an admission fee to see that and I'll bring the popcorn. :withstupid:

    • Looking for help!   2019 GMC Sierra 1500 - 5.3l 4x4 8l90 61k miles - truck is in Arizona, was over 110 outside on Monday when this whole situation transpired. Never had any major issues with transmission until this point:   Truck sat outside my construction office for approx 1 hour idling before I realized, ran around the job site wrapping some things up for the day and then left. Went to get food and sat in the drive through for approx 30 minutes idling. As soon as I pull out of the drive through and onto the main road, rear tires lock up and feels like transmission fell out of the truck. Shifted to park, shut the truck off and tried again, same thing happened. Was able to reverse into parking lot (truck slammed into reverse). Let the truck sit turned off for 10 minutes before trying again, but it continued to happen. Towed truck back to my house. Highest the trans temps reached was 198.   Friday, after work I start looking into the situation. Truck sat in my driveway untouched all week. Truck is now driving like normal, transmission doesn’t get over 185 degrees when trying to heat it up. Got up to 60 multiples times with no issues, no issues accelerating, only down shifted hard into first one time at 185 degrees. Does anyone have any insight? Never through a code or a check engine light. Truck has never been used to tow either. No transmission services at this point.
    • Atlas won.   I know better, but I did it anyway. I took a compressed air line with a chuck and rubber tip and jammed it in the open EGR port. The port was clear as far as I could see, and as far as I could poke with a flexible wire, but that doesn't mean it's not clogged.   Compressed air blew back at me along with a cloud of black. Oops. I didn't have the rubber tip seated in there all the way. Jammed it up in there some more and squeezed the chuck. PSI was set to 120. Poof! It blew back at me again. Third time...pfffffttssssssspffffffsssfffffff, face full of carbon, and then, kind of a thud..and the air stopped spraying back at me. It was now exiting the exhaust with a low shhhhhh sound as it flowed through the pipe. Something broke free. I pressurized the port again, and air flowed.   Made my day.   Long story short on this problem, it's fixed. Something was really blocking the EGR passages down low, and compressed air blew it apart. I don't recommend this as who knows what debris was sent where. But it's allowed me to move forward, mentally, and onto the next problems I need to get this little S-Blazer going down the road properly again.
    • Your truck lowered, looks good. I'm happy with the stance on this. I may need the extra ground clearance given my location/situation.
    • With this new pan, do you still use the same procedure to check the level? Its a deeper pan and our trucks do not have a fill tube/dipstick. So fill till fluid runs out the check plug?
