Control Your Ipod Through Your Stock Hu

I know there have been people asking is there an easy way to control you iPod through your stock head unit while charging it too. The answer is yes!

I thought I had read about this on the internet but I was wrong. There is an article in the June 2008 edition of "Sport Truck". On page 86 it talks about the PIE interface, while I admit I don't ever want to buy an iPod it might be very helpful for those of you whe do own iPods.

Not alot wires to route, the pictures are very simplistic

I think with my set-up though I'd go with the Lockpick for 129. That one sounds pretty good and with my touch screen that would be pretty trick.

That PIE one is pricey and it looks like you need an additional harness.

I am with you on that...

I have a 2006 Yukon Denali with the touch Screen Nav. I want to set it up so that I have a direct connect from my iPod to my nav/sound system. I would love for it to show the iPod screen on the Nav when I am looking though the play list.

I think if you get the one from PIE ($400 is salty) you will have to buy the cables and stuff needed to run the iPod too. So when its all said and done...it would cost around $550.

ummmmmmm...hahaha...maybe for x-mas ;)

I'm going to go ahead and order the Coastal Tech IPOD interface. All the IPOD controls and listings are right on the touch screen radio too. A lot of guys on another forum said it works really well and for only 129 seems pretty good to me.

Well I got the LOckpick today. Installed it which was a breeze. The sound was really good, fast interfacing with the IPOD, artis and song listing was displayed on the screen. Then for the problem....you can only play music that's in playlists. You can't just select a song at random and play it. I don't like that, I have over 3100 songs on my IPOD and it would be nice when you have a song you want to listen to, to go directly to it and play it. NOPE...it has to be in a playlist already to play it. So that also means always having to update your playlists. I like to just put whole albums in mine and play who I want when I want.

I could just drag a ton of good songs into a playlist and search through them, but then that kinda sucks.

I think I'm going to still look around, I want to have artist and album selection and you can't with this product.

Also...just thought of this...

You can select all your songs and place them into a place list...that way you can just scoll down through...

I have over 6,000 songs on mine...I know what you mean about scrolling through...

Tho....most of the time I just play from my list of playlists.

Is the sounds quality, CD quality?

Yeah I had all that right, and the sound was CD quality. You can read on that link it only has info on playlists...that's all it references. I could do the whole playlist thing but that to me is a waste of all the funcitons of your ipod.

Peripheral PXAMG does what you want 150$ at Bestbuy.

Yep I see that now, I might go and see if they have it with the harness in stock.

Just found this forum...http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=0&t=818668

Thanks asilverblazer ordered the PXAMG-GM5 tonight off Ebay for 136 with my harness. I'll let you guys know how it is when I get it.

If I don't like this one, I'm going to try the PAC.
