The Ridgeline is loosely based off of the Accord. As long as you don't look directly at them for very long (could cause nausea and/or  if you are unprepared) you should be fine :chevy:

Most cars don't have "rear ends" anymore because they are all front wheel drive. And if you're talking about gearing I doubt a set of 4.56 gears like my wife's scion would do much for mileage.

I don't think you understand that the two biggest things that hurt mileage in trucks are weight and air resistance. A 5000+ lbs. hunk of steel with aerodynamics slightly better than those of a giant brick is never going to get great mileage no matter what rear end you put under it.

If you are pulling with a light duty car rearend and a light duty car transmision, you will likely smoke them. They are not made for the stess and weight a truck is designed to deal with. There will be trucks they just will be sold to people and businesses that actually need them. The everyday commuter truck buyer will likely go back to driving cars or at the very least smaller trucks. Ford is now working on a new Ranger after 20+ years of nothing but updates on the old one, ford is alos working on a F100 a smaller version of the F150, in hopes to fill the nich of a smaller more fuel efficent truck with less capabilties than a full size of course. I hope GM has some smaller trucks in the pipeline, because I think thats where the markets heading.

IMO the whole GMT900 was entirely the wrong direction at the wrong time. The 900s are noticably larger then the 800s, IMO they are not as functional as the 800s either the enteriors are not any more roomy than the 800s the inside of the bed floor space shrunk, but the outside shure grew. Made no since ot me what so ever.

When the time comes, my truck will be a fine used truck for you to purchase. Please don't worry.

It'll be a few years wait though.

Something is telling me that this poster is thinking more of a gear ratio say like a 2.73, 3.08.

That would make sense.

But then why wouldn't you just buy a car? With gear ratios of 2.73, that thing is going to be a slug and tow like crap.

I don't care about gas prices. Gas is a necessity, everyone needs it and it wont change for a long time. So what if I have to pump out a little more money to drive a truck. It'll cost less than the hospital bills if I were to get into an accident (although I live in Canada, so that statement isn't true - free healthcare and all) plus its waaay more fun to drive than a car and it's practical. A truck is one of the last "Manly" vehicles on the market.

My RCSB Sierra has a 3.23 rear gear and I thought I would hate it. Turns out the torque of the engine makes it work great. Towing my boat was a non issue. I'm sure it would be a different story in a longer and heavier truck. Down side is I still don't get more than 17mpg. I'd probably get just as good with the 3.73. The 3.23 was the only thing available when I was looking for the truck. Not a lot of V8 AT all power regular cabs on lots! I guess I could have ordered one but I love my truck.
