New Bushings And Shocks

How much should the labor on this run me?

I wanna change the control arm bushings and shocks all around.

 

I have a bad ride, I feel every bump in the road. I actually saw a bushing torn during a recent radiator change. When I reached for the piece of rubber, it came off, just tossed it aside.

 

I also wanna know if the shocks are the reason for my bad ride. I haven't messed w/ my torsion bars since I bought it in 2006, but I've been told that the torsion bars have been cranked up. Anybody know if that would effect my ride?

If so, will changing shocks make any difference?

 

Money is tight, so I don't wanna just be throwing money where it isn't needed.

 

Also, if shocks are recommended.... what kind are good for my truck ('97 GMC Sierra 5.7L K1500 4x4) ?

I do nothing but street and highway driving, I deliver fridges, washers & dryers, etc. with my truck and pull a utility trailer full of lawn care equipment. Rarely any off-road.

Cranked T bars can make the ride rougher. New bushings and shocks can make a HUGE difference. Idler arms are also a big wear item on that truck I believe. Any decent auto parts store can provide the buchings and a set of good gas charged shocks on a budget. Most offer a house brand that is made right along side the major brands for a lot less money too. You wouldn't necessarily need to spend big to get a big improvement.

 

I bet the truck drives like a different truck when you are done!
