An Honest Question

As most guys here know, I dont post new threads too often, rather I just answer questions and post a crap load of TSBs and things of the sort...My question has to do with the Tech Wiki. Does anybody use it or reference its material? The reason I ask is most of the 2009 model year information is available and I have already posted the 2009 Silverado information, but this does take time to post the articles and new categories. Anybody in favor/disfavor of me continuing to post all of the new information for the trucks?

 

 

On another note, I am considering adding a "Mid Size Crossover" Section to the Tech Wiki regarind the Lambda based vehicles...let me know what you think or what your ideas are...

Hard to say how often I use it (though I selected once a month). In the past, before service appointments, I look through it looking for information that may need to be looked at by the dealer and I will be using it for specification when towing.

 

I favor continuing and thank you for your efforts!

I have a subscription to Alldata, so honestly, I normally go there (or my dealer) first when I have an issue. But I think we just need to send more people to the stuff in the Tech Wiki since there is a lot of good stuff there. I've personally had at least 3-4 issues listed for the 800 series. Not to mention they answers a lot of frequently asked questions/issues.

I've been in it a few times to look at stuff. And since I haven't even been here for a year yet, I chose every six months.

I go check it out pretty often but mainly just to browse and see what Mike has added. I don't have to work on mine much so most of the info isn't what I need at this time. I do think it is a very nice addition to the site and necessary for those of us that want/need tech info.

I should probably go there quicker than I do. But, I do use the Wiki.

 

It would be nice if "Search All" for the board also searched the wiki.

I used it twice, but after I was directed by Mike because it was right around when it was first started. I really havent had any issues since so I havent needed to use it, but its good information, but on the TSB's for 99-02 they seemed to be a little disorganized when I looked last time.

That is correct, the search button does not encompass the Tech Wiki and the 1999-2002 is the most disorganized section to date. That is why I was looking for suggestions as I do have a more streamlined plan for it in the hopes of finding information easier and more organized....

I think its a great thing though, and if organized and pounded into peoples minds for the Wiki to be their first stop, it would be a great thing. I know its a great tool for me, and any future issues that I have will be covered since the Wiki covers pretty much everything that can go wrong with my truck, and I learned some new things on how to take stuff apart and tinker with different things I didnt know about before.

Mike,I don't use it...But that because,as you know,I have full access to "SI" (service information) in GM-Dealerworld. So if theres any information I need I just go there.

I for one, would like to extend a "thanks" to you Mike for spending all of the time necessary to get it all on there. I have a small web design company and the hours spent producing can get crazy!
