So the semester is about to start and I'm shopping for a solid pair of headphones. I've got a cheap pair of Sony's right now that sound good but are very uncomfortable even for short amounts of time. Anyone use these..

I have heard good things about Sennheiser, but that is mainly about the HD650's. Those are supposed to be comfortable with incredible sound. Unfortunately, they'll run you at least $450.

Also if you pockets are deep you could consider the Grado RS1's.

They are strange looking for sure, but supposedly they are the best. The wood is supposed to help out.

I have a pair of Sony MDR's that have been very good. I have had them for 2 or 3 years and used them everyday. They defintely get as loud as you could need; to the point that it just hurts.

Or if you don't have deep pockets, the Grado SR60's are a great pair of headphones. Or any of the Grado line of headphones. :M16: I've also had several Sennheisers, also excellent sound quality. Just depends on what your budget is.

I've had those exact headphones for about 2 years, and I freaking love them. They sound great for just regular listening, and I've used them when recording with my band, and they cancel out drums and other instruments really well. The sound quality is great for the price, and they are built very solid as well. They are a little bit heavier than some, but by no means are they too heavy. Go for it, I think you'll like them. :M16:

I have had a pair of HD 212 Senns for about 3 years now and absolutely love them.

I ran DSP-500's for a long time they eventually broke down and I bought a Razer barracuda headset.

These are computer headsets by the way and not actual "headphones".
