Sirius Xm

So I read in newspaper that the people at FCC or whomever finally agreed to the merger/buyout of Sirius and XM satellite radio.

What does this all mean for those who have factory XM in their pickup trucks?

Sounds like a good thing. I've only read bits and pieces, but restrictive pricing and more agressive options. The one a heard is choose the fifty channels you want for 6.99 a month. Which is food for me because I only listen to amount 20 different ones right now.

Yep,You'll be able to get all the channels if you want, both XM & Sirius,or just some channels (IE You can "pick & choose")

It'd be nice if cable & satellite would take up a pricing plan like that. "Any 50 channels for $x." I'd be all over that!

Finally this is going through, I love Sirius and I didn't want to wire in my portable into my truck. Hopefully the OEM deck in my truck will work.

I have a feeling I'm gonna get caught. I bought an 07 Dodge Charger R/T Hemi in Jan 07, with the free 1 yr Sirius trial. I haven't paid a cent, and am still receiving the service free, over a year after purchase!!!

I have XM in the truck, but pay for it.

might want to call....i would believe that the company would honor the contract, but then again it could go the other direction.

My gut is, they will do this:

1) A lot of the redundant channels will be combined (decades, talk channels, etc.)

2) Then they'll, from what I have read, offer several plans for various collections of non-premium channels, and make the premium stuff that was unique about each provider additional cost subscription channels (MLB, NFL, NASCAR, STERN, etc.)

3) Maybe they'll have 100 + 1 plans, like 100 channels of regular plus 1 premium package for $xx.xx.

In any case, all radios will still work. They'll just simulcast via both satellites, rather than having Sirius and XM seperate satellites. Now-a-days, that's ez enough to do.

I'm interested to see how all this shakes out...

AS far as life subscriptions, I am sure they will still be honored, especially the Sirius-originated agreements, as, technically, Sirius is buying out XM.

That's cool that they are finally are merging, I have stock XM satellite radio I haven't paid for it so it ain't active anymore. If I change out the stock 6 disc changer for an Alpine DVD receiver and want to use XM again will it use the stock XM antenna?
