Hello to all,

I am new here! I am considering getting 285's on my 06 Z71. I have heard that they will fit, and that they will not fit. Also have been told to crank the t-bars. I am trying to stay away from messing with the suspension, but am willing to adjust the t-bars a little to make space and level the truck. i just dont want to have any trouble later on due to this. So i guess I am asking two questions, 1. Will the tires fit? 2. Are there any consequences from adjusting the t-bars?

Both of these topics have been covered extensively already. Do a search, and you should come up with hours upon hours of reading.

To answer your question, yes, they will fit if you crank the torsion bars a little.

No, there are no negative effects of cranking the torsion bars, if you don't over crank them. If you over crank, your ride will suffer greatly, and there will be a lot of extra stress on the front suspension, which will lead to excess wear on parts like tie rod ends, CVs, ball joints, pitman, and idler arms.

The highest you can crank without affecting ride quality greatly and without adding extra stress on suspension/steering components is about 1"-1.5". Make sure you get an alignment any time you adjust the torsion bars or mess with the front suspension.

Oh, welcome to the site.

Welcome!

yes the tires will fit, i have them on mine and there was NO rub issues at all at the stock ride height. I cranked my t bars an inch anyway just for some added clearance. and as stated before if you crank them dont go overbored... i wouldn't want to go over 1-1/2"

my cousin fit 33X12.50's on 20 inch rims, stock suspension, mild t-bar crank. only thing he had to trim was a tiny part of the bottom on the front bumper. I think 285's are basicaly the same tire, so I would expect almost the same results.
