Used Truck Prices!

I was thinking about trading my truck in for a '09 model until I checked on blue book and the trade in value was only $14,000! The truck just rolled over 37,000 and still looks brand new. I guess I'll be keeping this one for a long time.

Man Danny...37,000 miles!..That thing don't sit still does it?!?

The mileage isn't helping you either value wise,of course truck values are down no matter what you have,They say mines worth $18,500 trade-in,And I only have 13,000 miles on it,It stickered for $39k,I paid $31,400 for it.

It is quite sad - the value of used trucks.

I don't see any answers any time soon.

There is a 188 day supply of used trucks at current sales rates according to NADA and that figure is growing. Some dealers here won't take a truck in trade for any price. It's a crazy deal like I've never seen.

Great time to buy!

Funny thing is... I still see dealers and individuals advertising used trucks for big money. Of course that doesn't mean they are selling them.

Yep,Great time to buy.....Terrible time to sell

Yep,I'm not trying to sell,I love my VMAX....Although I do see a 2010 with the "Baby" 4.5 Duramax diesel in my future

I really like my current truck. Although I normally trade really often, I may just do something unusual and keep it for 4 or 5 years. This one just has that feeling about it.

The only other one I ever did that with lives at Wingnut's house now.

I would love to have one of those when they come out...

Not that I need it but, who wouldn't want a 500ft/lb half ton?

I can smell the rubber burning now!!!

Most owners of Trucks 1 - 3 years old are going to be upside down. The days that a dealer could roll the difference into a new vehicle are no longer as lending institutions have had to tighten lending guidelines to minimize chances of default.

Things could change if:

A) US economy turns better

B) US exchange rate against foreign currency gets a lot better

C) in order for "B" to happen the FED needs to raise interest rates

(which will slow the US economy even more)

D) Cost of a barrel of oil drops to about 50% of current price

(Need "B" to happen)

There will be a shortage of used vehicles in the market place in 2 - 3 years due to the current drop in NEW auto sales (Both trucks and cars), So there is a excellent chance if you just sit on your current ride that the market vaslus will not change mush in 2 -3 years.

Its a buyers market today, if you bought new now you would not loose as much (percentage wise) as someone who bought a year ago.

Worst part is most dealers won't give you Blue Book.

Hmmm.......Roughly when my lease is up, I'll take your truck off your hands for you!

I agree. I owe less than what the truck's worth but still it's not that great of a deal. So I'm just going to hold onto it for now. I think I did good when I traded my old Dodge Diesel in for this one and got over $16,000 for it's trade in. I think I did it at the right time considering fuel prices. If I only would have bought a car! Naw, I can't go that low.

KBB is behind on there truck & SUV prices. Take the current KBB & subtract 40%. That is what your truck is worth strait up. If you want more, then pay the trade & finance game. You will get more on paper & pay for it in the T&F game. There is no demand for used trucks & SUVs right now. Dealers are getting hosed at whole sale auctions.
