Exhaust Help

Alright im new here and new to full size trucks used to have a taco but unfortunately it currently R.I.P. Being that i now have a nice 5.3l to listen to i want to be able to hear it better as well as get a few more horses and Mpg's. i have a good idea of what im looking in an exhaust just was wondering if you can make some recomendations, pics sound clips ect. i am looking for a dual exhaust not sure if its gonna be out the back or angled behind the wheels. i am looking for a stainless system with preferably slashed cut single wall tips. i would also like to keep my spare tire. And if i am gonna spend money on an exhaust i want to hear it not something that is going to drone but sound like a V8 should.

One other question i have noticed that some single exit exhausts come in 3 1/2" and most duals are only 2 1/2" is there a big difference in power between the size of the tube?

Just a heads up, you probably won't get better mpg if you want to listen to it all the time...

there are a lot of nice systems out there but have u considered going to an exhaust shop and pricing a custom one it might be cheaper

Anyone running a MBRP exhaust for a gas engine it looks like a nice system? did a search and didnt come up with much. anyone know how they sound?

i knew a guy who had one and it sounded good. it wasnt really loud when u were just cruisin but when u accelerated it got a good deal louder and it looked pretty good to i think it was a single exit system that he had

I would suggest the Magnaflow 14" single in dual out, 3" in 2.5" out, and 3.5 - 4" tips of your choice.

MBRP belongs on Diesels... Their exhausts for gas engines is 3.5" thick, too damn big for a gasoline exhaust.

correct me if im wrong but i believe that that is ionly true for their single exit exhaust i beleive that their dual is a 2 1/2" system

i love the sound of flowmaster but i dont like how it is aluminized do they make a stainless version of anything? even if it is just the muffler are there some muffle shops that would be able to custom make stainless piping?

You are right the dual exit MBRP is 3.5 to the muffler then it is 2.5 to the tips. They sound great on diesels and their are a lot of videos on youtube on F150s. I want to know if they are loud when AFM kicks in. Corsa is the best but it is to much money for me. Magnaflow is unbeatable but I don't like where the tips exit. I am waiting for another member to install a Gibson on his Nnbs.

so has anyone upgraded their muffler without getting tips? That's what I'm leaning towards.

That 3.5" intermediate pipe is too thick to allow proper exhaust scavaging, which will rob your low end torque and gas mileage, and also sounding weird & quieter than a good 2.5" true dual or 3" single system.
