L76 Supercharger

Hi,

I have a question about putting a 6 psi supercharger in a 2008 L76 (suburban).

What is the best solution to get more fuel quantity to keep up with the supercharger? Use a Magna Volt, or is there a higher flow fuel pump replacement? Or should you go piggy back?

This is a returnless system, with a fuel pump contol module, but not a variable speed fuel pump.

Any input appreciated.

The OEM pump can flow a lot more fuel than the engine can use. It's just regulated to maintain correct pressure. Even so, I'd sure check with the blower builder and make sure what they recommend. A sudden pressure drop might result in a super lean condition and burn a piston.

They say a magna-volt is needed.

But almost everyone else I talk to is like, "nah."

Anyone have any long term experience with what happens to a fuel pump with 16 or 17 volts going into it?

Replying to myself.

I decided to do some simple math here, and I must be missing something.

The MagnaCharger comes with new fuel injectors. They are 42 lb/hr. Assuming that this means they can flow up to 42 lbs of gasoline per hour, simple math says:

42 pounds/hour = 6.8 gallons/hour = 25.74 liters/hour

Is it possible the stock pump can't maintain at least 25 lph, if not a lot higher than this?

Also, they have said if you have a flex-fuel vehicle, you don't need to put the MagnaVolt in. I *think* this is because the flex has the variable speed pump installed. Why not just swap to the variable speed pump then, and reprogram the ECM (it is possible in both EFILive and HPT to enable this)?

I am more than happy to install the MagnaVolt, and probably will; I just wish I knew more about what they were thinking.

We didnt change the fuel pump on the SS when putting the Radix on. No plans on changing the pump for the Tahoe when we put its Radix on either. Just make sure the tune is dialed in right and you should be good to go.

i`ve got a whipple, although its not on yet, and i recommends a boost-a-pump which is an auxillary pump, but have heard it stresses out the factory unit and shorten s its life, and when it goes its no starty! so looking into a walbro in-tank pump, they are not application specific but have heard of guys getting them in with little fabbin, i think it would be alot cleaner and ultimatley less expensive and hassle to have one greater capacity pump, but live and learn is the only way to find a true path...

Which kit (Magna?) are you putting on which motor?
