bsdlinux Posted July 18, 2001 Posted July 18, 2001 Ok, There is more than one engine that should be considered. Let's look at them by application: Best V-6 : #1 3.8 V-6 #2 3.4 DOHC V-6. Only number two because they quit using them. Basically a V-6 version of the Northstar( Northstar came from this engine). Original engine was 285 Hp stock. Put a supercharger on this one and see what you get. I am suprised the 3.8 hasn't started using this technology. They couldn't find a front-wheel drive trans to keep behind it. Tune it down to 215 hp to use in the Pre 1997 Grand Prix GTP's. Best Small Block V-8 : Any of 4 " blocks; 302,327,350,377 etc... Parts,Power,Longevity Best Big Block V-8 : 427 - my opinion. I know people will say 396 or 454....but this engine has always had something special about it. Probably why the only made 500 1969 ZL-1 camaros. A good engine is more that about power. Depends on what you use it for....
