Tranny Maintenance...

I have an '01 4.8L. It has 130K miles on it. When should I service the tranny? At 75,000 I let the dealership have it and they did their inspection crap. As far as I know, they did not change the tranny fluid or filter. Is this something I should look at doing?

I don't know the recommendations, but I like changing the fluid around 60K if a lot of city, 75K if more highway.

Do you tow at all? I would be taking the truck in once a year for inspection if towing a trailer that is close to the tow rating. Other then that, I think it is like every 50,000 km's.

A buddy has a '99 5.7L and services his every 50K. Has 180K on it and has never had an issue. He pulls a 28-ft center console boat at least twice a month and takes off to the Keys once a year. Another friend has '02 4.8L and replaced his at 75K and may have pulled a 400 lb utlity trailer, once. I service mine every 50-75k, other than a onetime screw up on my part, I've never had an issue.
