Install Oem Navi On 08 Sierra Non-bose?

I am new to the site and I am thinking of adding a OEM Nav unit to my 08 non bose Sierra but I am a little confused. I have been reading forum after forum and I am not really certain what exactly I need, what the abbreviations mean, as everything I read says something a little different. I recently purchased a GM Nav unit which the Map DVD came with it, the bose amp and the overhead DVD receiver and I am wondering if it is really worth trying to install or not. From what I read I will need some additional items such as: Nav Antenna and VSS Wiring harness, etc and that I have to take it to the dealer to unlock the radio. But that is where I get confused on what I really need and where to install. I know the Nav Antenna goes under the cover on the dash but where and how do I install the VSS wiring harness? How do I install the Amp to the radio and what do I need? How do I install the DVD receiver or do I really need it as I can watch the DVD's on the Nav Unit? Also I see in many forums people were getting items from JPCustoms but it seems they are out of business, where do I get the items I need?I would really appreciate any help I can get.Thanks

Please, Please Help. There has to be someone out there that can assist me.I also forgot to mention I have Onstar and XM.

 

From what I have been reading it dose not appear possible to add nav to a non-bose truck. this is because the nav units do not have an amp in them and the amp for the bose system is seperate located either under the center console or passenger seat.

 

I am in same position as you and have searched the internet for a couple of weeks now and can't find anything definite as to yes or no.

 

I am going to wait and see what is available in th 09. I found a page at the GM site showing the bluetooth and back up camera operation.

Do you know if the harness that is required exists in the truck or do you need to purchase it? I have not seen anyone trying to sell the amps!

I am pretty sure you have to purchase it. Again that is where I am trying to verify. Maybe if it is going to be to much of a problem I will just sell the Nav.

 

 

How much did you pay for it all?

Get an aftermarket in-dash nav, it would be cheaper, better, and easier to install.

 

 

That would be easier said than done as I already have the money invested and figured it would be an easier process. There has to be someone out there that has installed the system in a non bose model.

I JUST BOUGHT A OEM NAV BOSE FOR MY GMC TRUCK THAT IS NON BOSE. IVE BEEN TOLD ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS INSTALL A AFTERMARKET AMP. IM LOOKING FOR THE WIRING HARNESS SO I DONT CUT ANY WIRES. I HAVE A PLACE TO CALL TOMORROW WHERE I THINK I HAVE FOUND WHAT I NEED. I ALSO HAVE ALL THE REST OF INSTALL INSTUSTRIONS ONWHERE EVERYTHING GOES. ILL POST WHERE TO GET THIS HARNESS IF I FIND OUT SOMTHING. ALSO THE NAV IS LOCKED FROM PLAYING WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD YOU HAVE TO GET A UNLOCK BOX THAT WIRES IN. HOPE THIS HELPS

guys i just bought 5 non-bose nav radios,,i put 1 in my 08 non-bose w/t,,its plug and play,,PM me and i can tell you what to do,,the only thing is these light up red not green on the back lighting,but im working on that
